Letter postmarked Aug 23 1954, Chicago. Return address 6068 Stony Island, Apt 103, Chicago, Ill. Dated, Sunday. Written by Mervin Haines to his parents, Harley O. & Martha Crum Haines, in Marion. His wife, Betty Lou, had left him & moved back to Chicago, where she was from, taking their children. Mervin had followed. In the letter he refers to being informed why Betty wanted to leave him. They would divorce the following year.

Raymond L. Haines, Sr. told rc at a family reunion on 28 Jul 2012 that Marvin is buried in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens outside of Marion, Ohio, off 423. He confirmed that Mervin died in Michigan - he thinks at the University of Michigan Hospital. rc has not been able to find any citations for Mervin's death.
