Martha C. Haines
Martha C. Haines, 97, formerly of Tyler St., Marion, O., died Nov. 28, 2002, in Alterra Sterling House at Marion, O.
She was born in Vernon Township, Crawford County, on March 7, 1905, a daughter of John Crum and Henrietta Faulkner Crum. On Oct. 28, 1922, in South Bend, Ind., she married Harley O. Haines, who died Jan. 30, 1989.
She worked in Marion Harding High School cafeteria and the Whirlpool cafeteria and was a bookkeeper for the family-owned Haines Manufacturing Co. for many years. She was a Methodist by faith. She was a charter member of the OSU Mothers Club, Marion Chapter, the Navy Club Auxiliary and Marion County Women’s Republican Club.
Surviving are sons, Walter V. (Martha) Haines of Lake City, Fla., William H. (Mary) Haines of Prescott, Ariz., John R. (Barbara) Haines of Johnstown, O., and Raymond L. (Carol) Haines of Marion, O.; daughters, Helen (Joe) Carlisle of Dellroy, O., Patricia (John) Reichelderfer of Delaware, O., and Susan (Rod) Lucas of Marion, O.; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Four sons, Richard Haines, Mervin Haines, Harley Haines Jr. and James L. Haines preceded her in death, along with three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home at 360 E. Center St., Marion, O., with Rev. Carl Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Quality of Life, OSU Marion Scholarship Fund, Children’s Diabetes Research Foundation and Arthur James Cancer Center.
