Martha wrote that she was married 28, 1922 at 5:30 p.m. in South Bend, Indiana, by Elmer Ward Cole. Freeman Crook was a witness. The weather was "fair and warm." They moved into East Campan St., South Bend, on October 28, 1922.

Witness Freeman Cook." Among Martha's papers was a church program from the First Christian Church, located at 316 South Main St., South Bend, Indiana. Elmer Ward Cole, D.D. [doctor of divinity], Minister, dated October 29, 1922, the day after Harley & Martha were married.
