Charlotte was a special friend of RC's mother-in-law, Helen (Haines) Carlisle. Charlotte was a severe epileptic. She was a welcomed guest in Helen's home. Charlotte moved to Dayton to work after graduating high school where she met her future husband, John Ellis. When they married, Helen was Charlotte's only attendant.
Helen has several letters from Charlotte in her collection.
