Main St. Had been in poor health for several months and helpless past few weeks--Was former resident of Thorncreek Township. "Mrs. Martha Jane Jackson, past 69 years old, widow of the late John P. Jackson, died at her home on North Main Street this city Wednesday morning at three o'clock after an illness of several months due to diabetes and complications. . . "She was formerly Martha Jane Long and was born in Kosciusko county, Ind., on December ..., 1855, to Aaron and Julianne Crowel Long, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 24, 1884, Miss Long was united in marriage to John P. Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson resided in Thorncreek township until six years ago this spring when they moved to the residence on North Main street. Mr. Jackson died five years ago this spring. "Mrs. Jackson is survived by the following named children: Bertha Workman, at home, and who assisted in caring for her mother during her last illnes, Clarence, Jesse and Heber Jackson, of Columbia township, Homer Jackson, of Chicago, and Mrs. Edith Fleckenstein, of Rochester, N.Y. Five step-children also survive: Lilly Rouch, of ???, Neb., Daisy Longnecker, of Denver, Colo., Chloe Jackson, of Cambridge, Mass., Fred, of Fort Wayne, and Daniel Jackson, of Indianapolis. Nine grandchildren are living. "In addition to the relatived named five brothers and two sisters are living: William Long, of Webster, Fla., Alfred Long, of Sedalia, Mo., Ira Long, of Elkhart, John and Michael Long, of Etna township, Mrs. Clara James, of Orland, Ind., and Mrs. Lavina Kersteter of Milwaukee, Wis. "Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Thorncreek Baptist church for many years and transferred her membership to the Columbia City Baptist church upon moving to this city. "Funeral services will be held ??? afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church, Rev. John Moffatt, of LaPorte officiating. Mrs. Jackson chose her own text, which is II Timothy, chapter 4, verses 6 and 7.
