Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :

Pullins, Loftus - born 10/1764 in Augusta County, Virginia where he entered service 1780 in Virginia regiment; moved after Revolutionary War to Kentucky for abt. 40 years, most of the time in Madison County, where granted Pension in 1832; query letter in file 1931 from descendant Mrs. J.M. Turner, Louisville, Kentucky; query letter in file says soldier resided in Madison County, Kentucky, 1840 at age 80 & was buried near Brea. F-S14240, R1984.

    State of Kentucky Madison Circuit: SS
    On this 10th day of September 1832 personally [appeared] in open Court before Richard French sole & presiding Judge of the Court for the Circuit of Madison aforesaid now sitting Loftus Pullins a resident of the County of Madison aforesaid aged 68 years in October next, who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
    That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers & served as herein stated – That in December 1780 he was drafted in Augusta County in Virginia in the militia & served a tour of duty of 3 months – Thomas Hicklin [also spelled Thomas Hicklen] was his Captain –___ Humphreys Lieutenant Colonel Sampson Mathews was Colonel – we were marched to Plymouth Virginia & stationed near that place – served out the 3 months & was discharged at Meads Mill where he was stationed some time –
    In 1781 he was drafted a second time from Augusta County Virginia in the militia & served a tour of 3 months –William Kincaid was his Captain, ___ Tatum was Lieutenant & Samuel Vance was Colonel was marched down to York & was there during the siege – recollects seeing Washington, Lafayette &c after the surrender of Cornwallis [October 19, 1781] he was a guard for the Prisoners to Winchester & was there discharged was called out in the month of ___ & served out the 3 months.
    He was born in Augusta County Virginia – moved to Kentucky where he has resided about 40 years – most of the time in Madison County – He has no documentary evidence to prove his Services in his possession nor does he know of any person whose testimony he can procure to prove them – He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present & declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any State

    [Veteran was pensioned at the rate of $20 per annum commencing March 4th, 1831, for service as a private for 6 months in the Virginia militia.]
