John Horton was baptised on 11th December 1814 at Merston in Sussex, son of Elizabeth Horton, formerly Edwards, and her husband John Horton, an agricultural labourer.

Sadly young John died when he was only sixteen years old, being buried at Merston on 21st May 1831.
