Information on Gideon Marr

From "The History of Pittsylvania County, Virginia", by Maud Carter Clement:

William Beans's house on Dan River was established on the northern side of the river near the present station of Wenonda. In 1768, Bean sold his lands in this section to Col. John Payne of Goochland, Nicholas Perkins, Gideon Marr and others moved out to the new country of Tennessee.[pg. 52].
There were resident lawyers who practiced in the early court of Pittsylvania, men of culture, ability and wealth, among whom were Colonel Hayes Morgan, Captain Hugh Innes, Gideon Marr, Robert Williams and William Todd. But Patrick Henry's exceptional powers were everywhere recognized and his opinions were like a court of last appeal.[pg. 98].
