George Bowman, born 1747; died at the age of 18; from rupture, due to carrying or attempting to carry fifteen bushels of rye up three flights of stairs in the old Bowman Mill, on Cedar Creek; described as a giant, nearly seven feet tall. ["History of Shenandoah County, Virginia, pg. 693].
