Obituary in Rock Island Argus, April 9, 1985, p. 5: “Edna Mangelsdorf Edna M. Mangelsdorf, 84, of 3293 13th Ave., Rock Island, died today at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, with the Rev. Henry Lubben, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School or Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pallbearers will be Clifford Hawkins, Phillip Kendall, William Crownover, Michael Mangelsdorf, Harry Theus, and Alan Bamsley. The former Edna Theus was born March 9, 1901, daughter of J. Stephen and Lena Stoit Theus, She was married to Edward Mangelsdorf on Sept. 26, 1922, in Rock Island. He died July 3, 1978. Mrs. Mangeldsorf was a member of the above church and its Ladies Society, Rebeccas unit and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Mangelsdorf of Rock Island; a son, Dr. William E. of Kingman, Ariz., four grandchildren and a sister, Mabel Theus of Rock Island.”
