OBIT in Rock Island Argus in undated clipping.[TH-IL 33]. “MABEL THEUS Mabel P.(sic) Theus, 80, a resident of St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, died Thursday at the center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hodgson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Lubben, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, officiating. Burial will be in Chippianock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, of which she was a lifetime member. Pallbearers will be Harry Theus and Harry Theus Jr., Phil Kendall, Cliff Hawkins, Grant Felis, and Robert Pomeroy. Miss Theus was born Dec. 8, 1904 in Rock Island, daughter of John S. and Lena Stoit Theus. She was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School, Rock Island. Miss Theus was employed by the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co., retiring in 1971. She was previously employed at the former Montgomery and Campbell Cleaners in Rock Island. Miss Theus was a member of the Iowa-Illinois Kilowatts, the Lutheran Womens Missionary League, the Ladies Society of the church, and the Rebeccas of the church. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Barbara Mangelsdorf of Rock Island.”
