1805, Jan 1, Birth date - Bible of Moses Alexander b 1836, son of Ezekiel who was brother of Asa C. Alexander Sr. The date is from an insert in the copy I have. As to the place: His brother, Ezekiel's, obit said he (Ezekiel) was born in 1803 in Hancock Co. Georgia and moved with his family to Jones in his early life; "Alabama Series, Vol., II, Deaths, "Newspapers of Barbour, Henry, Pike Counties 1846 - 1890" compiled by Helen S. Foley, pub. by Am. Reference Publishers, 1969. No doubt Asa, Jr. was born in the same place. Hancock was made from Washington & Green Co. in 1793. His father got land in Washington Co. after the Rev. War, and also lived in Hancock Co., GA. "Memorial Record of Georgia" 1893 Brant & Fuller excerpt notes (his bro.) Ezekiel b in Putnam in 1803 and says family remained there until Abt 1821.

1821 - his family moved to (Henry Co.?) Alabama at Walding Crossroads, near the Sylvan Grove Settlement; "A History of Dale Co., Alabama", Val L. McGee, p10. The Ledbetter family was also here about this time. Dale Co. was made from part of Henry Co. in 1824.

1824, Jul 10 - He married in Abbeville, Henry Co., Georgia to Rebecca Ledbetter; marriage certificate.

1827, Abt - He was County Clerk of Court in Dale Co., Alabama. "The Story of Alabama--A History of the State", Marie Bankhead Owen, Dept. of Archives & History, Vol I, excerpt, says Dale Co. was formed from Henry & Covington Co. in 1824.

1841 - He was in the mercantile business; Dale was split in two to add Coffee Co. in 1841, at which time Asa C. Jr. became the 3rd settler in the area in 1841, opening a mercantile business a few years later. Geneva Co. was formed in 1868 from Dale, Coffee & Henry Co. He no doubt stayed in the same area with the changes being made around him {Geneva County Reaper newspaper, 29 May 1902, article by W F Duffie who settled in area in 1833, p26 "Geneva, Alabama-- A History", The Geneva Woman's Club 1987].
