1793, Oct 24 - birth date from an insert in the bible of Moses Alexander, son of Asa & Faitha Wooten Alexander, written by Moses' wife, given to me by Katherine Alexander Mims. It is also given in the following sour [Georgia. Pioneers Publication, "Georgia. Rev. Sold. Sailors Patriots & Desc". 1979, p5; Johnson-McCall & Related Fam, Falba L. Johnson 1979 RL Bryan Co Columbia South Carolina p.48; Uncle Jesse C. Turner notes. He is said to have married the widow Rich, from Johnson-McCall above p.48; also that he lived in LA, according to Sarah Standifer's notes on microfilm, LDS. His death date is given as Sep 1870 in the Moses Alexander bible. Samuel Alexander was a common a name in this family and there are several, which makes them easy to mix up. This one was named for his great grand father, grand father and/or uncle. I have one Samuel Alexander, Sr. unaccounted for at this time. There is a legal document from Warren Co., Georgia,, Sep 10 1822, that names Moses Alexander and Joseph Hill executors and administrators, jointly, and making Moses Alexander administrator Pro Temporary of the un administered & undivided part of the goods and effects of Samuel Alexander, Sen'r, formerly of said county, dec'd. The copy of this is from Patti Andrews. Samuel Alexander III, b 1754-d1825, did not name a son Samuel. Samuel II died abt 1791 in Greene Co., Georgia. There is a headstone in Warren Co., Georgia of a Samuel Alexander who d. abt 1817. The book "Georgia Rev. War Soldiers' Graves Vol II, p662 Warren Co., Georgia credits this person as Capt., Native of NC, served as Capt. in Col. Elijah Clarke's Rifle Corp., with dates 1757-1817. This same book, (prob. Vol I), Greene Co., Georgia, has Samuel Alexander, b 1730-1823, as Capt. in Col. Elijah Clarke's Rifle Corps, also. To my knowledge there was only one "Capt. Samuel Alexander" in Col. Elijah's Rifle Corps. Samuel Alexander II, b abt 1733, d abt 1791, was not a Capt. but a Patriot serving as Justice to Wilkes Co., Georgia at time of Rev. War.
