Moses Alexander bible (grandson of Asa Alexander, Sr.). DAR appl.580799 (of gr-gr-granddaughter with whom I'm in contact, Katherine A. Mims); Bible extracts found inserted in bible of son, Moses. The same birth date given in newspaper obituary (below), "Alabama Series Vol II - Deaths Newspapers Barbour Henry & Pike Counties 1846-1890" compiled by Helen S. Foley, Am. Reference Pub Inc 1969; "Memorial Record of Alabama" Vol I pub 1893 Brant & Fuller. He married: 1st Edaline (Edna) Dawson (mother of all his children), 15 July 1824, Jones Co., Georgia 2nd Sarah Dawson, 30 Jul 1853, Barbour, Alabama, USA 3rd Catherine Doughtie, 2 Oct 1872, Barbour, Alabama, USA d. Apr 1881- Eufaula Weekly Bulletin", Apr 16, 1881, "Mrs Catherine Alexander, age 60, consort of the late Ezekiel Alexander, who died just a little over a year ago, died Saturday last at their home on the Abbeville Road......she is buried at White Oak Cemetery, Eufaula, Ala bama." His obituary: (it's accuracy, of course, depends on the person giving the information) Ancestry.com has "Georgia Marriages to 1850", Jones Co., Georgia which shows a marriage to Adeline Davidson, 15 Jul Jones Co., Georgia. I don't know if this is an error in transcription of the name "Dawson" or not, seems likely. "Alabama Series Vol II Deaths, Newspapers Barbour Henry & Pike Co., 1846-1890", compiled by Helen S. Foley, 1969 Am. Reference Pub. Inc. (Dec. 1879, The Times & News, Ezekiel's obit. gives his birth date in Hancock Co., Georgia; says he went to Jones Co. Georgia with his family at an early age. When he was 18 yrs old he moved to Ft. Gaines, Georgia. He moved again with his father and family into Alabama, but after a few years moved back to Jones Co. and married his 1st wife Edna Dawson, who was the mother of all his children. He was afterwards married two times. He changed his residence to Dale Co. Alabama, then to Pike Co., Alabama and in 1834 to the home in Barbour Co., in which he died. The Eufaula Weekly Bulletin, Sat Apr 16, 1881, Mrs Catherine Alexander, age 60, consort of the late Ezekiel Alexander, who died just a little over a year ago, died Saturday last at her home on the Abbeville Road. She is buried in White Oak Cemetery, Eufaula, Alabama . The Clayton Courrier, Sat May 11, 1889, Col. J.D. Alexander, postmaster at Thomasville, Georgia died Sat. Eufaula Daily Times, Wed Nov 19, 1890, Mrs Ira Alexander, bride of Gaston A. Robinson, Esq. and daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Alexander of Faunsdale, Alabama died at Selma Alabama on Monday. I'm not sure who J. D. Alexander is as the insert in the Moses Alexander bible gives the death date of Ezekiel's son Jonathan Dawson Alexander as a different date. |
