Will Transcript
- In the name of God Amen, I Andrew Moore of the County of Rockbridge and State of Virginia being weak in body but of sound mind, remembering that all men are born to Die, Do after recommending my Soul to God who have it and my body to be buried after a decent Christian manner, Give and bequest my worldly effects (after paying all my just debts) in manner following (that is to say)
- I give and Bequeath to my well beloved Wife Martha the one third of my estate real and personal with the north end of the House I now live in to be hers during life except my Negro Harry which I allow to remain on the land for the support of the family till my son Samuel comes of age.
- I give and Bequeath to my son Samuel the whole of my Estate real & personal when he comes of age except his mothers part real which he is to receive at her Death to him his Heirs & Assigns forever freely to possess ~
- I give and bequeath to my son William the sum of One Hundred & thirty pounds as so much thereof as may be ____ to give him a regular Education for any be much he may choose he to be put to school immediately and the money to be paid yearly by my son Saml. as his Education requires.
- I give and bequeath to my eldest Daughter Mary The sum of fifty pounds to be paid by my son Samuel when she marries or comes of age __ a Horse saddle & Bridle Valued at Twenty five pounds and the ballance in such property as she many stand in need of upon giving him reasonable notice.
- I give and Bequeath to each of my other two Daughters the like sum of Fifty pounds to be paid to them the same way as my Daughter Mary's and if any of said three Daughters should die before the time they are intitled to their part, said part to afend? to the surviving Sisters or Sister, and if any of my two sons should die before they come of age this part to be equally divided amongst the survivors.
- I give and bequeath to my Negroe Harry his freedom at the expiration of Nine years after my death on Condition of his being a faithful servant during that time ~
- And I allow each of my Daughters their Schooling and Boarding on the place while the[y] remain Single & behave as such.
- I leave to the discresian of my Executors - to sell such of my property as they may think not necessary to be continued on the plantation and after selling all my amounts the money remaining to be apply'd towards schooling William & Samuel to have Credit for the same, as so much paid to William of his part ~ And if my son Samuel should fail paying each Legatee in giving approven Security for the payments to being made six months after they become due I allow the Lands to be sold and the Legatees paid.
- And for the Execution of this my last Will & Testament I Constitute and appoint my Wife Martha Moore and her brother Samuel Moore and William Moore esquire Executors ~ Given under my hand and seal as my last Will and Teatament this Twenty ninth day of June one thousand seven hundred and ninety one.

- At a Court held for the County of Rockbridge October 4th 1791
- The writing purporting the last Will & Testament of Andrew Moore esqr. Deceased was presented in Court by Martha Moore Executrix & Samuel Moore & Wm. Moore Executgors herein named & proved by the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded ~ and on the motion of said Executors who made Oath according to law Certificate is granted them for obtaining Probate thereof in due form an[d] giving security whereupon they together with Saml. Moore Sen. & Samuel Eakin entered into & acknowledged Bond in the sum of two Thousand pounds Conditioned according to Law.
