Amos Doan, 83, Passes Away
Amos Doan,83, retired mail carrier, passed away at 8 O'clock this morning at his home on West Cherry Street.
Mr. Doan had celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary with Mrs. Doan on Tuesday of this week and many friends and relatives had visited them to express their felicitations.
Funeral arrangements are not complete. The body is at the Olney Funeral Home.
He is survived by Mrs. Doan, daughter Leona Doan of Olney, and three sons Rev. Maywood Doan of Chicago, Roy and Raymond Doan of Claremont.
Mr. Doan, was a well known citizen, taught in many Richland County schools for 19 years, after which he served with the Olney post office for 19 years retiring in 1925.
He was active in Masonic, Odd Fellow and Woodman lodges.

Funeral Services For Amos Doan
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the chapel of the Olney Funeral Home for Amos Doan who passed away suddenly Friday Morning of last week. Rev Zeische, pastor of the local Elm St. Christian Church was in charge of the services. Masonic rites were held at the graveside, in Haven Hill Cemetery where interment was made.
Mr. Doan was 83 years of age at the time of his death. He and Mrs. Doan had just obserbed their 58th wedding anniversary Tuesday of last week.
Born in Douglas County, in 1861 Mr. Doan was the oldest as well as the last remaining member of a family of seven. His parents moved to Richland County while he was still a lad. Growing into manhood, he became a teacher in the rural school system of the county. He left the teaching profession after some 19 years and moving to Olney in 1906 he became a rural carrier out of the Olney office. He retired from this in 1925.
Mr. Doan was quite active in the lodges of the city. He was a member of the Woodmen, Odd Fellows and Masonic orders.
Surviving him are his wife Ida, Three sons, Roy and Raymond of Claremont, and Rev. M. J. Doan of Chicago and a daughter, Leona at home.
