    Maywood Doan, fireman in the Martin-Halloran-Klaus laundry at St. Louis, was seriously burned and scalded on the head and upper part of his body last Thursday by the bursting of a defective boiler in the laundry. Mr. Doan is a brother of Amos Doan, of this city.

    Maywood Doan formerly a resident here, died at his home in St. Louis last week, his death being the result of burns received in an explosion of a boiler at a laundry where he was employed some time ago.

    His remains were brought to this city Friday night and laid to rest Sunday afternoon at Haven Hill. Funeral services were held at the Elm Street Christian Church. Rev. Walker officiating.

    Maywood Doan was born September 11, 1860 neqr Olney, IL. and died February 4, 1914 aged 54 years, 4 months and 25 days. He united with the Presbteyan Church in St. Louis.

    He was united in marriage to Mrs. Hattie Douglas Newbolt. He is survived by his wife and three step-children, Irene, Thomas , and Clay Newbolt all of St. Louis, four brothers, Amos, Dr. Thomas, Frank, and Harry and two sisters, Mrs. Nin Gowin and Mts. Kate Wilhite, and a host of other relatives and friends.
    He was a kind husband and father and a loving brother. He has passed over to the other side to be with his father and mother, who have preceded him.
