    Harry Elmer Doan was born near Olney Ill, January 3. 1877. He departed this life at the home of his sister, Mrs. J.F. Gowin in Olney, February 4, 1918, ages 41 years, 1 month and 1 day.

    He was united in marriage with Alice Thacker November 24, 1895. to this union were born two children a son John , and a daughter Velma. The son having proceeded him only a few months ago to the great beyond. He lived most of his life in and near Olney. He lived a few years in St. Louis, Mo and Owensboro, Ky where he worked as a mail clerk; later returning to Olney his home town where he lived until the end. He was a member of the A.F & A.M and ? chapter of the O.E.S. the I.O.O.F. and Good Will Rebecca Lodge of Olney. He leaves a wife, a daughter Velma, three brothers Thomas of Scottsville, Ill, Frank of St. Louis, and Amos of Olney, two sisters, Mrs. J.M. Wilhite of Olney and Mrs. J. F. Gowin of Olney, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his departure.

    He was faithful in attendance at the Elm St. Christian church where he assumed the duties of a Bible school teacher taking charge of the class known as the Happy Hustlers.

    the funeral service was conducted at the home on North Walnut street. Elder C. W. Marlow of Greenwood Ind. his former pastor assisted Elder J. W. Battenfield conducting the service

    The Rebeccas conducted their burial service at the home and the I.O.O.F. at the cemetery.
