Next step: Review your GEDCOM [21 December 2011]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Faber-100.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Gedcom upload. Gegevens samenvoegen [22 December 2011]

Alternate names in ‎Jousma.GED [24 December 2011]

Hallo, Jaap-Sip, I see in your gedcom that you have names such as Christina Geertuida (Palland)de Wit, Geesje Alber(t)s van Veen, Anthonie Alberts (van Diever) etc that contain alternate spellings in parentheses.

While you are processing your gedcom, please go to the People tab and Edit the people with alternate names in parentheses. From that edit screen, you can move the alternate name to a new field by clicking on "Add alternate name". If you have any questions at all, just let me know. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:09, 23 December 2011 (EST)

Thanks for helping, i changed the names.--Jsfaber 07:53, 23 December 2011 (EST)

When you are all done reviewing your gedcom, you can press the "ready to import" button, and I'll process it. Bedankt! --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:18, 23 December 2011 (EST)

There are a few more names that will need to be reviewed/edited:

  • Arentje Mijnen Meinen
  • Aaltje Aaltjen Lubbers Lubberts
  • Arentje Mijnen Meinen
  • Grietien Ragger(ts)
  • Roelof Ragger(ts)
  • Grietje(n) Ruurds
  • Arendiena Soechies(Soegies,Suichies)
  • Hendrik Teuniesze (Ruiter)
  • Annigje Tijmes (Timmes)
  • Gerrigje van de Weg (ook genoemd Wegge)
  • Hendrik van den Beld(t)
  • Stijntje(n) van Milgen (Hilbrands)
  • Jan van('t)Veen
  • Aaltje(n) Aaltien Klaassen Klazen Vos
  • Lammech(k)ien Ruurds Vos
  • Lucia Albertus Wiggers (Wichers)

Also, you will want to review the Places tab. Since your gedcom primarily contains towns only (no province or country), the gedcom software needs to "guess" which town it is. It does not always match correctly. You can check the matches to make sure they are correct. If a place is matched incorrectly, right click on the name and select "unlink matched place".

When you are done, go to the Import tab and press "ready to import" again. --Jennifer (JBS66) 09:40, 23 December 2011 (EST)

Jaap-Sip, I noticed that your gedcom was back in Admin review. I sent it back to user review because the names of the people that I listed above need to be fixed before I can import the file. Alternate name spellings can be listed on a separate line by clicking on "Add alternate name" from the edit screen. The primary name spelling should go on the first line, and any alternate spellings can be entered on separate lines. If you have any questions, just let me know. When the names are fixed, press "ready to import" again. Thank you, --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:58, 24 December 2011 (EST)

Place:Kromme Voort [23 December 2011]

Jaap-Sip, I noticed that you created a place for Place:Kromme Voort. I cannot find a place by this name in the Netherlands. NL place page titles on WeRelate should be in the form: dorp, gemeente, provincie, Netherlands. Since no pages link to Place:Kromme Voort, I will delete it. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:42, 23 December 2011 (EST)

I don't know kromme voiort either, it's ok you delete it.--Jsfaber 07:53, 23 December 2011 (EST)

The gedcom refers to this place for Aalties Aaltje Willems. She was christened 15 Apr 1764 in Diever, and the birth place is listed as "aan de Kromme Voort". We could also move the place to the description field. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:03, 23 December 2011 (EST)

Jousma.GED [24 December 2011]

Hallo Jaap-Sip, it appears that you sent this file back to Admin review. The names that I mentioned in the post above still need to be fixed. If you would like help with this, or if you'd like help in Dutch, please let me know. I sent the file back to user review. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:06, 24 December 2011 (EST)

Hello Jennifer, I moved aan de kromme voort to description on the page of Aalties Aaltje Willems and added the Village as a page. I hope the Gedcom file kan be approved now. Thank you.--Jsfaber 10:22, 24 December 2011 (EST)

I am sorry for any confusion Jaap-Sip. The names I am referring to are the people's names that have alternate spellings, I'll list them again below:

  • Arentje Mijnen Meinen
  • Aaltje Aaltjen Lubbers Lubberts
  • Arentje Mijnen Meinen
  • Grietien Ragger(ts)
  • Roelof Ragger(ts)
  • Grietje(n) Ruurds
  • Arendiena Soechies(Soegies,Suichies)
  • Hendrik Teuniesze (Ruiter)
  • Annigje Tijmes (Timmes)
  • Gerrigje van de Weg (ook genoemd Wegge)
  • Hendrik van den Beld(t)
  • Stijntje(n) van Milgen (Hilbrands)
  • Jan van('t)Veen
  • Aaltje(n) Aaltien Klaassen Klazen Vos
  • Lammech(k)ien Ruurds Vos
  • Lucia Albertus Wiggers (Wichers)

Some of the names have parentheses, and others have spelling variations (like Aaltje Aaltjen Lubbers Lubberts). Only the primary name should be listed on the first line, and other spellings can be added by clicking on "add altername name" from the edit screen. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:30, 24 December 2011 (EST)

Burgerlijke Stand & pages for living people [29 December 2011]

Hallo Jaap-Sip,

I noticed that you are using the Source:Tresoar to cite the Burgerlijke Stand records. Tresoar is really the Repository that houses the Burgerlijke Stand records. Instead of citing Treasor as the source, you can cite, for example, Source:Dantumadeel, Friesland, Netherlands. Burgerlijke Stand. I believe all of the B.S. pages for Friesland are titled in this format. For the other provinces, they may be titled Registers van de Burgerlijke Stand instead, because we've not gotten around to renaming them yet.

Also, I noticed that you may have created a person page for yourself. WeRelate's policy does not permit pages for living people. You can, however, use a template like this User:JBS66/Ahnentafel on your userpage. On these charts, instead of linking to a page for a living person, you can add their name only. If you have added pages for living people, you can delete them by clicking on More>Delete from the menu on the left of each page. If you have any questions at all, just let me know. --Jennifer (JBS66) 15:29, 28 December 2011 (EST)

Hello,

Thank you for pointing me in the right directions, I will use the burgerlijke stand next time as source.

another question: Can i use the same trouwakte twice? once i create them, i cannot find them again. Sometimes i use the same Source page/entry multiple times for the different facts or dates i got from it.

I created my own person indeed just to have the option to tie my trees together, so in de FTE i can get it all in one overview.

How did you create the Chart on your userpage?

Jaap-Sip--Jsfaber 19:21, 28 December 2011 (EST)

I created a pedigree chart on your User:Jsfaber/Stamboom JS Faber page. If you go into the Edit screen, you can see the 1= will be the pedigree chart heading, 2= will be the first person on your chart, etc. I filled in the links for the first few people. You can continue that format for the rest of the names to create links to their person pages (ie: [[WR page title|what you want the link to display]]).

Regarding the sources, I'll use Family:Andries Van Der Velde and Gertje Jeltema (1) as an example. There is a marriage source on that page (Huwelijken, in Oostdongeradeel, Friesland, Netherlands. Burgerlijke Stand, Akte 24, 1846, Primary quality) - is this what you would like to use again? You can't use source citations like this again, they would need to be re-entered on each page. You could also create a MySource page. These can be reused, but they are more often used for personal sources that do not apply to many people (like a family bible or a single death certificate). If you can provide me with an example, I might be able to give you a more specific answer. --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:52, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Hello Jennifer, Thanks for creating the Pedigree map, i have completed it. The Marriage Source is indeed something i would like to use on more persons. maybe something for the future to create a page for each Source page. For now i will reenter it on each page. Is there a way to easily change all the Tresoar entry's i made to something like: "Westdongeradeel, Friesland, Netherlands. Burgerlijke Stand".

Jaap-Sip--Jsfaber 09:03, 29 December 2011 (EST)

I think that I know what you want to do with the sources, but there is currently no way to do that on WeRelate. This is a feature that has been requested in the past - the ability to copy a source citation without having to re-enter the data. My suggestion is that you use the Sources and re-enter them, rather than creating MySource pages for them. Since you'd be citing a source that is widely available and applies to many people, that is better suited as a Source. You would actually save very little time by creating MySources because in some respect, you'd still need to re-enter some data on each page. The other advantage of Sources is that repository information, source details, a list of person/family pages that link to that source - all that information can be maintained on a source page that is usable for all Dutch users.

Regarding the Tresoar entries - you could run this search to find the pages you are watching that have the word Tresoar on them. That will also return pages that have the pre-1811 citations on them - like this page. With the pre-1811 DTB sources, we've not yet come up with a good naming scheme to title these sources, so many users are just typing in the text from Tresoar and not choosing any Source page to link it to. There is a discussion here about a long-term project to rename the Dutch sources. --Jennifer (JBS66) 09:28, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Geert Jogchums Zijlstra.ged [2 January 2012]

Hi Jaap-Sip, I sent this gedcom through to import. This gedcom had a few families without either spouse. The family pages will be created because they do have a marriage date, but the pages will be titled Unknown and Unknown. After your file has imported, please take a look at your recent contributions. There should be 4 different families titled Unknown and Unknown. They will have the following marriage dates:

  • m: 08 NOV 1856 Metslawier
  • m: 16 MAY 1885 Kollum
  • m: 21 SEP 1766 Anjum
  • m: 12 MAY 1877 Kollum

You will want to edit each family and add the husband and wife. Then you will need to rename the family page to include the names of both spouses. Let me know if you have any questions. --Jennifer (JBS66) 18:40, 1 January 2012 (EST)

Boorsma2012 S-Z.ged [6 jan 2012]

Hallo Jaap-Sip, before you continue with your family matches, you'll need to work on the Places Tab first. Since there is no country listed for many of your places, the software needs to "guess", and it's not always right. For example, I corrected Amsterdam that directed to Amsterdam, Saskatchewan, Canada instead. These need to be processed first because as you match families, if it had Amsterdam for an event, the page on WR would be changed to Amsterdam, Saskatchewan, Canada, which you don't want. Look over each place, even those the system matched to make sure the link is accurate. If it is not, right click on it and choose "unlink matched place". Then you can right click again and "Find/add matching place". Some of the common matching errors have been Amsterdam, Ede, Bergum, and Hallum. Another in your file is burum which is linking to Yemem. If you plan future gedcom uploads, it can be easier to do a global find-and-replace in your home software to add the province and country to your places. This way, places will be matched more accurately.

Please note that you should not generally need to make new place pages - most are already on WR. We also don't create pages for churches, so places like "buitenpost hv kerk" would need to link to Buitenpost, Achtkarspelen, Friesland, Netherlands. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:33, 3 January 2012 (EST)

Jaap-Sip, I've taken another look at your ‎Boorsma2012 S-Z.ged. Approximately half of the families in the file have no wife or marriage date listed. I am assuming this must be due to the way your larger gedcom was split. Klaas knows a lot more about Aldfaer than I do, but I believe there is a way to separate the file while keeping the families intact. If I were to import this gedcom, the cleanup to add the spouses and rename the pages would be significant. Also, because one spouse is missing, the chance for creating duplicate pages is greater. --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:42, 6 January 2012 (EST)

I noticed something about one family in the above gedcom. The family is Hendrik Westra and Elisabeth van der Zwaag. The gedcom shows two children in this family:

  • Aaltje Van Der Zwaag 24 DEC 1854 (which should actually be 24 Dec 1855)
  • Marten Van Der Zwaag 1 DEC 1852

In the birth certificates for both children, no father is listed, only the mother Elisabeth. --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:54, 6 January 2012 (EST)

Klaas Jansen is helping me to split the Gedcom file up in a better way, i wil;l import it again then--Jsfaber 16:19, 6 January 2012 (EST)

Unknown pages [9 jan 2012]

Hallo Jaap-Sip, I'm going through some of your Unknown family pages. I noticed that on many of these, you removed the child from the page. One example is Family:Unknown and Unknown (12968) where you removed Person:Duurt Westra (1). The resulting Family page has little identifying information that remains. The better option would be to edit the family page and add each spouse. Then, at the top of the family page, there will be a link that says "this page can be renamed". Click on this link and the page will be renamed and properly titled. I suppose the other option would be to delete the Family page. You can do that by clicking on More>Delete (as long as there are no other users watching the page). --Jennifer (JBS66) 16:15, 8 January 2012 (EST)

Hee Jennifer, The unknowns are from the Gedcom i split up. When Klaas has the new Gedcom's ready i will import those same family's and repair this mistakes. I already found out about the renaming, but thanks for the help.--Jsfaber 17:38, 8 January 2012 (EST)

Since the Boorsma2012 S-Z.ged file that is in the queue won't be imported, would you mind if I deleted it? If you need to look at it for any reason, I could return it to user review for you to delete. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:02, 9 January 2012 (EST)

Next step: Review your GEDCOM [12 January 2012]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded rest.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate.

Jaap-Sip, I put the boorsma gedcom on hold. I left you a message on G+, but you may not have seen it. The time between your last gedcom completing upload and this one being uploaded to WR was only a few minutes. Usually, the system needs 1-2 hours to index the new pages. Would it possible to reupload a new boorsma.ged? That way, we can be sure all the pages from your previous gedcom are indexed, and all potential family matches in the boorsma gedcom are found. TjeerdKazemier.ged [28 January 2012]

Hallo Jaap-Sip, I noticed that in the TjeerdKazemier gedcom file, the pre-1811 people without surnames have their patronymic names listed in the given name field. WeRelate's convention is to list the patronymic name in the surname field when they did not use a surname in their lifetime. I put the gedcom on "hold" because I won't be able to import this file unless the names are corrected.

This rule may not have impacted you very much in past gedcom uploads. However, this week WeRelate is testing allowing previously "early" people to be imported via gedcom. So, people that would have been marked as early (ie, many of those without surnames), are now being allowed. If you have any questions about this, just let me know. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:32, 28 January 2012 (EST)

i changed the patronym's.

great to hear that early people are imported from now. In this specific Kazemier Gedcom are a lot early's. Is the import for early's already in effect?--Jsfaber 12:24, 28 January 2012 (EST)

Yes, it is in effect now. Dallan is testing the early imports back to 1650 for this week, then he will evaluate the results. There are a few more edits to names you'll need to make, but you can do this right within the gedcom upload screen. When there are first or last/patronymic names with parentheses (such as Ymckjen J(oh)annes and Roo(r)d Eedzes), the parentheses should be removed and the alternate spelling will need to be added on a line separate from the preferred spelling. Other than than, the file looks ok to process your family matches. --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:44, 28 January 2012 (EST)

TjeerddeVries.ged [4 April 2012]

Jaap-Sip, I took a look at your TjeerddeVries.ged file. You will need to make a few edits before I can import the file. You do not need to reupload your file, these edits can be made within the gedcom import screen.

1. Go to the #2. People tab and click on the Exclude column to sort. Now, scroll down to the first names that are not excluded. These names will begin with a comma (ie: , Aattje Rinnerts). You'll notice the names will be titled Aatje Unknown. Since they have no surname, the patronymic name will need to be moved to the Surname field for each of these people (there are about 30)

2. For alternate names in parentheses such as Sipke Yntes(Ynzes) - the alternate spelling will need to be moved to a new Alternate Name line. The same will need to happen for the Pult(e)rum names.

I have returned your file to user review. When you are done, just click on the Ready to Import button and I will import the file. Thank you! --Jennifer (JBS66) 09:19, 4 April 2012 (EDT)

‎tvdley.ged [9 mei 2012]

Hoi Jaap-Sip, I took a look at your gedcom. I've noticed there are quite a few families that have a marriage date but do not have either the husband or wife listed. Do you want to exclude them from upload, or are you planning to add the spouses/rename the pages after upload?

To view these families, you can go to gedcom review and click on the 3. Families tab. --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:20, 7 May 2012 (EDT)

they can be excluded, i have all the information i need from the gedcom now. thank you.

greetz JSF--Jsfaber 17:04, 7 May 2012 (EDT)

Ok, I excluded those families - except for 2 (because I wanted to preserve the links for siblings). After the file has imported you may want to rename these "Unknown" families:
  1. m: 9 May 1784 (children Brandt & Aafke Sybesma)
  2. m: 5 May 1709 (children Antie & Kornelis Pieters) --Jennifer (JBS66) 00:38, 8 May 2012 (EDT)

I see some other anomalies. I could fix them myself, but I'll give you first chance.

  • The Unknown and Unknown parents for Brandt & Aafke Sybesma is a duplicate; they already have named parents.
  • He's a dear relative, but we really don't need two of Jakob Kornelis Keegstra: here and here.
  • Is that not the names of my 7g-grandparents Unknown and Unknown there in the text box: Pytter Wybrens and Sybrigje Aukes?

--Pkeegstra 07:47, 8 May 2012 (EDT)

It looks like Klaas already fixed number 1. The rest are still there.
Also, I was looking for records in North America (Michigan) for the Vaatstra Dykstras, and not having an easy time with it.

--Pkeegstra 06:27, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

I think you're asking about my family. I descend from Kornelis and Elizabeth which means my family has been in the USA since before 1900. Unfortunately, that means there have been at least three generations in my line who haven't spoken Dutch. How are you related to the Keegstras? Is it via the Vaatstras? --Pkeegstra 09:25, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

Hello Keegstra,

Sorry for the dutch writing, i though you were living in Fryslan.

I hope that your relative: [1]

is the same as [2] and when his doughter named: Antie Jans is the same as: [3] then we have a blooddline :-)

Jaap-Sip Faber--Jsfaber 09:55, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

Wow! That's great! It looks plausible to me, but what would count as proof? And also, what about Sjoertje Tietes Faber? She looks lonely with no parents listed. --Pkeegstra 10:42, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

Proof would be something on paper what says that it is as it is. On the moment i have nothing to proof that it is how i hope it is. I'm stuck on Jan Martens and Antie Jans: [4] When i find the parents for Antie jans then i can rule out some names from their daughters as the possible name for Jan Marten's Mother.

P.S. Sjoerdtje Tietes is not related to my Faber Tree, i don't have any Tietes. I think JS Heeringa is a relative of you, i meet him regularly in the Archive in Dokkum.

Jaap-Sip--Jsfaber 10:52, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

OK, I looked up the record at TRESOAR, and this Tiete and Antje are the parents of Sjoerdtje Tietes, and also the grandparents of a Tiete Ruurds Faber from Burum you are watching. --Pkeegstra 11:52, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

Should I go ahead and remove this gedcom from the queue, or would you like me to return it to User Review for you to look at? --Jennifer (JBS66) 15:28, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

You can delete it, i forgot about the time limit.

Next step: Review your GEDCOM [8 August 2012]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Zuidema Kollum.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate.

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

WijtskeZijlstra.ged [29 December 2012]

I reviewed your ‎WijtskeZijlstra.ged that is in the queue. You will need to fix some of the names before I can import this GEDCOM. First, go to the People tab and click on the Exclude column (so the arrow points ^). Then, all of the excluded items will be on top. Scroll down until you get to the first non-excluded person - Aagte Willems. You have both Aagte Willems in the surname field, so this page will be titled incorrectly (as Unknown Aagte Willems). The Aagte needs to be moved to the given name field. There are many names to fix - and they are a bit hard to find. I would suggest looking at each of the non-excluded pages in GEDCOM review to check for correct titles. If you have any questions, just let me know. When you are done, you can return the file to Admin Review. --Jennifer (JBS66) 09:06, 24 December 2012 (EST)

I saw the file was in Admin Review. There are still quite a few names that need to be fixed, so I returned the file to User review. --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:48, 27 December 2012 (EST)

‎FryskeAdel GEDCOM [25 February 2013]

Hi Jaap-Sip,

Some of the names in the GEDCOM you are working on will need to be edited before the file is imported. It is much easier to fix these before import. If we wait until after import, both the Person and Family pages would need to be renamed.

  • Data such as ds and Jhr need to be placed in the Name prefix field
  • Some of the accented characters were not exported properly (such as Dani‰l)
  • Dashes in names need to be removed Rymke Lunia instead of Rymke_Lunia

Please do not press the Ready to Import button with this file :) instead, you can leave me a message when you are done with your family matches. I can start working on editing some of these names today. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:34, 22 February 2013 (EST)

Hello Jennifer, ok i will wait with import en give you a notice when i'm ready reviewing. Thanks for helping out with this one :-)--Jsfaber 08:00, 22 February 2013 (EST)

Actually, I'm now seeing a larger problem with this file. It seems there are names that belong in the Given name field - but are in the Surname field. These are harder for me to sort out (and are numerous). A few examples (these are Surname entries, not in the given name field):
  • Aurelia W.C. van Andringa de Kempenaer
  • Barbara van Cammingha
  • Benjamin Johan Vegelin van Claerbergen
  • Berber Helena Vegelin van Claerbergen
I'm wondering if these would be easier for you to correct in your home database first? --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:12, 22 February 2013 (EST)

I already did a lot of work in the reviewing part, it would be a bad day for me if i had to do it all over :-( Maybe I can help doing it online:-)--Jsfaber 08:16, 22 February 2013 (EST)

I wouldn't want you to have a bad day :) If you think it will be easier to review online, that is ok. We should wait until after you've finished your matches to fix the names. Then, we can sort by the "Exclude" column and only fix those you've not matched. However, you'll want to take care when doing your matches not to include the data for the incorrect names. I'm off the computer for a bit - so if you have any questions, I might not be able to respond until later in the day (evening for you :) I'll also add a few more tips here on naming that I need to research first (like graaf, baron, barones). I assume you've already worked through the Warnings and those left are ok? --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:45, 22 February 2013 (EST)

Yes it already the third Gedcom i uploaded for this one, reviewing the warnings again and again, what's left most are things that should be ok, Reinder Postma put this one together, he's a good geneaolgyst, so i hope he did a good job on this :-), and indeed the positive thing for doing it online is that the already matched ones and excluded ones won't have to be changed. When matching i will take care that i do not pick the names that are not good.--Jsfaber 08:53, 22 February 2013 (EST)

Regarding the names with Baron, barones in the surname field: the workaround for this (so that it displays in the proper order on the page) is to put the word at the end of their name in the Given name field. An example is this page: Person:Elbrig Van Asbeck (1) where Elbrig Willemine Henriette barones is in the Given name field, and van Asbeck is in the Surname field. --Jennifer (JBS66) 19:05, 24 February 2013 (EST)

Thank's i have been struggeling with this. sometimes i have put it in de prefix field, i don't know what the offical way of order is right. There are also names where baron is inbetween the multiple surnames: "Sixma baron van Heemstra", i can imagine that it is an official way of writing down such a man's name? maybe he is only baron in the van Heemstra family, or maybe they write it down this way because Sixma is more important then van Heemstra?--Jsfaber 04:25, 25 February 2013 (EST)

Now that you have uploaded Reinder totaal restant.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate.

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Reinder totaal restant.ged [9 mrt 2013]

Some of the names in this GEDCOM will need to be fixed before import. For example, there are a few Nijeholts where the Lycklama à Nijeholt (with a lower case à) should be moved to the Surname field. There are also a few with Tho in the given name field. I need to research it a bit, but I thought that Tho was part of the surname. --Jennifer (JBS66) 11:44, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Yes i will change them--Jsfaber 11:46, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Underscore in names [10 mrt 2013]

Hi Jaap-Sip,

Just a small tip for processing the names in your GEDCOMs. When there is an underscore character _, like on this page Person:Abraham Benedictus Leefsma (1), it should be removed. The underscore causes the pages to be incorrectly titled with multiple first names. --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:57, 9 March 2013 (EST)

I delete them when i see them butt i probably missed a bunch, i should have removed them offline with "find and replace". greetings JS--Jsfaber 18:00, 9 March 2013 (EST)

There are about 74 people from your last gedcom with underscores. I know you've been working hard on these GEDCOM files for yourself and other users. I'll fix and rename these pages for your tomorrow.
Since you have admin rights, I don't get a chance to double check the files you upload prior to import. Sometimes a second set of eyes can be helpful. Perhaps you can send me a message before you press the Ready to Import button. Then, I can take a look over the file and let you know if I see anything to tweak before you import it. --Jennifer (JBS66) 19:03, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Ok i will. For now i'm ready with imports, but in the future there will probably be other files to import :-)--Jsfaber 19:18, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Aaltje Elema [13 May 2014]

Hi there

I just want to say thank you, I'm assuming the family tree of Aaltje Elema is your work? http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Aaltje_Elema_%282%29.

I have been doing my Kwartierstaat on werelate, and linked into it while I was working on the Wouthuis family. It's so magical to find this kind of information!--MWalker 08:13, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello MWalker, It's not my work, the credits go to RPostma, I have been helping him get his Gedcom online. His Gedcom's contained a lot of Frisian Nobles and Riches, that was why i was interested to help him.

Thanks - I'll contact him!--MWalker 20:41, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Sietze Douwes Bergsma [21 May 2016]

Beste J,

Met vriendelijke groet,--Svdmolen 11:19, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

Hallo,

Pages for potentially living people [1 September 2023]

Hi

We're trying to ensure that WeRelate doesn't have any pages for living people, so that we can archive the data at the Internet Archive. The pages below are for people who are most likely deceased, but we can't be sure. Could you please add dates for them so that we can be sure they are deceased. I'd like to get this cleaned up by fall 2023 if possible. If you are unable to tackle this task by fall, please let me know, and I will find whatever dates I can. Thanks for your help.--DataAnalyst 15:00, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi

I see you deleted one page from the list and then stopped. Do you think you will be able to tackle any more by the end of September? I'm trying to get a sense of how much work I will have to do. Thanks--DataAnalyst 14:17, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

I dont use werelate anymore you may delete any living.
