WeRelate:About MySources

MySources, also called "personal sources", are sources of a personal, rather than general, interest, such as birth certificates, family bibles, other family documents, and the informal research of others used in building a tree (such as personal websites, message board comments, letters or emails, and family trees on Ancestry or WorldConnect).

Features

  • Fully document your personal sources on indexed wiki pages.
  • Upload, store, and annotate digital images of important source documents.
  • Link to personal sources on person and family pages, without re-entering reference information.

Getting started

Try creating a MySource page for a personal source (your grandparents' marriage certificate, maybe?).

  1. Click on the blue Add link at the top of the screen.
  2. Select "MySource".
  3. In the Title: field, type the name you wish to give this source.
  4. Click the "Add page" button. The prefix "username/" identifies the source as a personal "MySource" rather than a community source.
  5. Fill out the edit boxes with source information.
  6. Click the "Save page" button at the bottom of the screen.
