Thomas was named as an executor of his father William's estate in 1854 and his address was given as White Hill Farm. He likely lived at White Hill farm for most of his adult life since the 1839 voter's roll also shows his name in that location .It is interesting to note that at the time women did not have the right to vote and even most men did not vote....but Thomas's name was on the list. It appears as though, about 1860, Thomas and his new family moved from East Kilbride to Avondale. It's possible that this move occurred about the time that William and John left for Canada. SHEARER THOMAS 1872 M 64 AVONDALE LANARK 621/ 0052 is Thomas's death register in New Register House. When viewed online it states that Thomas suffered from heart problems for one year, that his son Alexander was present at his death and that he was married to Agnes Fleming!.It appears as though the reports of his marriage to Elizabeth Warnock were mistaken and that his son Alexander DID survive childhood..
