Although Agnes never came to Canada, it appears that some of her siblings and their families did. They settled in the Bright Ontario area, not too far from her brother in law John Shearer. It is possible that communication between families was maintained through inlaws. There is no monumental inscription/gravestone for Agnes in Scotland so her actual death date will likely never be known although further research has found a notation on a Genes Reunited website that suggests that she died in 1838. Contact with the submitter is planned and could prove very enlightening.
A best guess is that Thomas's second wife was most likely the girl who was hired to take care of the family after Agnes's death.
