    LOST HIS LIFE

Switchman August J. Sordolet Fell From A Car

Death came with a swift sure hand to Pennsylvania Switchman August J. Sordolet, last night. Mr. Sordolet was engaged in switching some cars in the down town yards, about 6:30 o'clock and in attempting to climb up on a car to release a brake, he slipped and fell under the moving train. He was doubled up and rolled along on the ground, until the life was nearly crushed from him. Willing hands soon got him from under the train and he was conveyed to Sr. Joe hospital, where the company's surgeons examined him and found that his back was broken, and that he had received internal injuries. He stood the ordeal of the examination very well, but finally gave up the struggle for life and expired at about 11 o'clock. The deceased was a single man and had lived with his mother at No. 69 McCulloch St. He was 25 years of age. The remains were removed to the undertaking rooms of J.C. Peltier from which place they will be taken to the mother's residence this morning.

After his father's death in 1885, Emil and his mother moved to Fort Wayne. He took a job on the Penn. Railroad as a switchman. He was killed in a railroad accident; he was knocked off the top of a railroad car. His back was broken and he died of internal injuries.. he was 25 years old.
