Lived at Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio; Monroe, Michigan; finally came to the Lake Huron Shore about the year 1854.

When a boy of 15 he worked for D. D. Oliver at Ossineke; acquired a liking for the woods that led to his adopting land looking and surveying as an occupation. He was the County Surveyor at the time of his death.

Died at home Wednesday evening, January 20, 1909; funeral was held Saturday morning from the home; services were conducted by Rev. W.A.A. Shipway.
