Utica Observer-Dispatch, 6 Aug 1959: MRS. CORA F. DOWNS Mrs. Cora F. Downs, 77, of Whitesboro, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was born Feb. 25, 1882 in Carterville, daughter of Luke and Sarah F. Collins Russell. On May 23, 1900, in Amboy, she was married to Charles F. Downs. He died in 1951. Mrs. Downs came to New York Mills in 1908, and lived in Whitesboro for 44 years. She was a member of Whitesboro Baptist Church and Oriskany Chapter 524 OES. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Wheeler A. Davies of Syracuse, Mrs. J. Stuart Welch of Whitesboro, Mrs. William I. Baumes of New Hartford; two sons, C. Harold of Whitesboro, Herbert R. of Niagara Falls; four grandchildren... The funeral will be... Saturday from the Howard H. Wells Funeral Home, Whitesboro. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
