Baumes, 54, of 5 Fernbank Circle, died Monday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was born in Whitesboro, daughter of Charles S. and Cora Russell Downs. She attended school in Whitesboro and graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing. She was married to William I. Baumes in 1944 in Whitesboro. She was a life long resident of Whitesboro and formerly worked as a private duty nurse. She was a member of Oriskany Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, the Whitesboro Firemens Auxiliary, and Whitestown Home Bureau, Whitestown Bapatist Church, and was treasurer of the Women's Fellowship of the Church. Besides her husband she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Wheeler (Blossom) Davies, Syracuse, Mrs. Stewart (Blanche) Welch, Whitesboro; two brothers, C. Harold Downs, Whitesboro and Herbert R.
