Utica Daily Press, 24 Jan 1951: HEART ATTACK FATAL TO MAN Charles Downs, 79, Upper Main ST, Whitesboro, died unexpectedly yesterday while delivering potatoes at the Wynn Grocery, 1140 Downer. Patrolmen Feldman and Firlet gave inhalator treatment under the direction of Dr. W.B. Falvo before Dr. H.J. Haberer, coroner, was called. He said death was due to coronary thrombosis.

Utica Daily Press, 24 Jan 1951: CHARLES F. DOWNS Whitesboro-- Charles F. Downs, 78, of 6 Palmer, died unexpectedly Jan. 23, 1951. He was born Feb. 3, 1872 in Carterville, a son of James and Katherine Snavlin Downs. He lived for about 40 years in the Camden area, and married the former Cora F. Russell in 1900 in Amboy Center. After his marriage he lived for several years in New York Mills, moving to Whitesboro about 30 years ago. He had been a produce dealer for many years. He leaves his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Wheeler Davies, Syracuse, Mrs. Stuart Welch, Whitesboro, and Mrs. William Baumes, Utica; two sons, C. Harold Downs, with whom he made his home here, and Herbert R. Downs, Niagara Falls; a sister, Mrs. Esther Salisbury, Utica; two brothers, Walter Downs, Columbus OH and Curtis Downs, Manlius; four grandchildren... The funeral will be... Friday from the Howard H. Wells Funeral Home, 100 Main.
