Facts and Events
Middle name is 'Louis' on Memorial card and 'Lewis' by Earl Hosler 'Charles came to Manitoba at the age of 6 or 7 along with his family. He was never sure of his birthday and celebrated it on April 17, one day after his wife's...when he came to Manitoba all the children lived with separate families. He lived in the Eden area with a family called Doble. (At age 10, he is on the 1911 census with the Doble family in Neepawa, Manitoba. Although his last name is Doble, his son, Earl, confirms it is his father.) He was fond of the Doble family but he did have contact with his mother at various times in his life and may have seen his father at least once after he left. He worked on farms, highway construction and the pipelines. He now lives in Le Duc, Alberta, in a senior citizens apartment. Charley is a quiet man but very interesting to talk to. He has a very good sense of humor and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are all very fond of him. He lived in the Portage la Prairie, Manitoba area for quite some time but moved to Alberta to be close to his son, Earl.' Source: Jim Johnson He had diabetes, and he and Elizabeth lived in Calgary, Alberta Canada for some time before their deaths.
