Maggie was 11 years old when her mother died in 1879. An infant sister, Maddie, was born about the same time and later died at 6 months of age, also in 1879. In 1880 Maggie was living with her father and two brothers, William and Thomas. She married in 1884 and by 1900, seven children had been born and were alive. The family moved to Canada around 1903.
From Jim Johnson: '...the marriage did not last and some of her family believe they divorced, but I cannot confirm this. One of the family believes that Maggie lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota after the marriage breakup but they are not sure how they were given that information. In any case, she did keep in touch with her children in Manitoba. When she developed breast cancer she went to her daughter, Vina, in Arden Manitoba, where she passed away. A memory Charley has of his mother is that as a young woman she had flaming red hair.

Vina's daughter, Eileen Steele Woldshen, remembers her quite well when she was elderly and says she was a very nice person and her children seemed close to her as they came to visit fairly often.
