    BRUNE, Bert - Funeral services for Mr. Bert Brune, age 84, who died in a Bellingham hospital on Sunday, July 17, 1988 will be conducted Wednesday, July 20, at 1 p.m. in First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Philip Kok officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. Mr. Brune, 116 S. First St., Lynden, was born in Orange City, Iowa, on Feb. 8, 1904, and moved with parents, Berend and Tjeske Brune, to the Lynden area in 1909. For 40 years he was the manager of what was first Western Condensing and then Foremost-McKesson in Lynden until he retired in 1965. He was then the building inspector for the City of Lynden for 15 years. On April 21, 1927, he was married to Jeanette Radder in Lynden; Mrs. Brune died in May 1987. He was a member and former elder, deacon and consistory chairman of First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden. He is survived by two daughters, Myrna Brune of Seattle and Elaine Versteeg of Bellingham; grandchildren, Mrs. Shelley Smit and husband Randy of Lynden, Bruce Versteeg and wife Cindy of Everson and Kara Versteeg of Seattle; two great-grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Minh Thi Nguyen Thi of Seattle; four sisters, Mrs.Johanna Zylstra of Lynden, Mrs. Enna Geleynse of Bellingham, Mrs. Minnie Osberg of Bellingham and Mrs. Hilda Blankers and husband Ernie of Lynden; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Dave, Fred, Simon and Art Brune, and two sisters, Mrs. Renzella Ritchie and Mrs. Marie O'Connor. Memorials may be made to Lynden Christian School, 515 Drayton St., Lynden, WA 98264, or to the Lynden Senior Center, 504 Front St., Lynden, WA 98264. Funeral services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.
