Ann Maria Harry was baptised on 1st June 1800 at St Stephen by Saltash in Cornwall, daughter of Sarah Harry, formerly Grubb, and her husband Robert Harry, a labourer. The family had only recently moved to Saltash from the village of St Ive; Ann's baptism is the family's first appearance in Saltash. She was the youngest of eight children, although at least one of her older brothers had died before she was born.
In 1821, aged 21, Ann married a mariner named John Warren. They married on the opposite side of the River Tamar at Stoke Damerel in Devon, which was the parish church which covered the town of Plymouth Dock (renamed Devonport three years later). After their marriage they returned to Saltash for a time, where Ann's first son, John, was baptised in 1822. They then moved back across the Tamar to Devonport and neighbouring Stonehouse, where the rest of their children were born. Between 1822 and 1845 Ann and John had at least six children, although two of these are known to have died young.
The 1851 census finds Ann and three of her children living in Devonport. John was away from home on census night, presumably at sea. By 1861 he had retired from the navy and he appears with Ann in the census. They had also left Devonport and were living in the village of Polbathick in Cornwall.
John died in 1866 in Devonport. By 1871 Ann had moved to Plymouth, living with her daughter Honor, who was working as a governess. Honor later moved to Bristol, where she married a Richard Ashton in 1874. Ann appears to have followed Honor (who took to calling herself Annie) to Bristol. Both the 1881 and 1891 censuses find Ann living in Bristol with Honor, who was a widow herself by 1881.
Ann died in 1892 in the Barton Regis district, which covered the northern suburbs of Bristol. She was 91 years old.
