Person:Agnes Shearer (14)

It was well known in the family that Agnes and her sister Elizabeth had married brothers Thomas and Roy. However, it was less well known(...well in later generations at least) that Thomas and Roy had an elder brother who had married into another branch of the Shearer family. While researching these connections, I discovered...to my amazement ...that Agnes and Lizzie's younger sister Christina had married one of Thomas and Roy's nephews...which means that, by marriage, both Agnes and Lizzie were Aunts to their sister! With all these family connections it came as no surprise to learn that Agnes stayed with Elizabeth and Roy Burnett the last few years of her life. When she first came, she helped to look after Lizzie. After a stroke, she, Lizzie and Roy all went to Ingersoll. Lizzie's daughter Alice nursed them all until their deaths. Agnes was the first of the three to pass on.
