    William Harvy Slates died at his home in Perry Township, October 4. The remains were interred Tuesday at St. John's, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. C. H. Herrnstein. Mr. Slates was born in Indiana May 17, 1860. He was a farmer by occupation, lived in Perry Township, then for a time in Dellroy in business, retiring to the farm where he ended his life.
    He was married to Margaret A. Busler, September 30, 1879, and 8 children were born to them; Charles of Akron; George of Carrollton; Mrs. Elmer Heidy of Dellroy, Mrs. William Neidig of Robertsville, Sara Ellen at home. Charles M., and John F. of Dellroy are brothers. The widow and 11 grandchildren are also survivors. He was a member of St. John's and a highly respected citizen.

    NOTE-- in his obituary it stated he was born in Indiana, but the 1870 census records stated Ohio? Also his obituary states he was buried in the St. John's Church cemetery. He was buried in the Kilgore cemetery.

    William Harvey Slates died in his home in Perry Twp. October 4, 1924. The funeral services were held the 7th in St. John's Lutheran Church, Perry Twp., and interment made at Kilgore, Rev. C. H. Herrnstein officiating. The deceased was born in Indiana May 17, 1860. He was a resident of Dellroy and Perry Twp. for many years. Mr. Slates was married to Margaret Busler September 30, 1879.
    The widow and the following children survive: Charles, Aaron and George, of Carrollton; Mrs. Elmer Heidy of Dellroy; Mrs. William Neidig, of Robertsville and Sarah Ellen, at home. John F. and Charles M. Slates and Mrs. Samuel Guy, of Dellroy, are surviving brothers and sister. Eleven grandchildren are living. Mr. Slates had been a member of the church since 1875, at which time he was confirmed at St. John's.
