George C. Slates, 94, of 5275 Frank Rd. NW, North Canton, formerly of East Main Street, Carrollton, died Sunday, January 4, in Timken Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a two-week illness. Born January 27, 1886, in Loudon Twp., he had resided in Carroll County all his life until moving to North Canton last July. A retired self-employed meat cutter, he was a member of First United Methodist Church at Carrollton. In 1918 he married Nina Kintner, who died July 2, 1980.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Kay Slates of Erlanger, Kentucky, Mrs. Ruth Honess of Aurora and Mrs. Jean Treu of North Canton; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Services will be held this Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Allmon-Dugger Funeral Home at Carrollton. Rev. John H. Visser will officiate and burial will be in Westview Cemetery at Carrollton.
