    Sarah's birth is recorded in Carroll County Book 2, page 32. Birth records states September 16 as her birth, but obituary gives September 17.

    Her obituary in the Free Press-Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, March 18, 1965.

    Miss Sarah Ellen Slates, 84, died Tuesday in the Preston Nursing Home at Bowerston. Miss Slates had made her home with her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Heidy of Dellroy. Born September 17, 1880, Miss Slates was the daughter of Margaret Busler and Harvey Slates. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
    Surviving are two brothers, George of Carrollton and Charles of Akron, and one sister, Mrs. Olive Heidy, of Dellroy. Services are Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sweeney Funeral Home in Dellroy. Burial will be in Carrollton.
