    John Slates, 71, died Tuesday in his home in Dellroy after a long illness. He was a life resident of that vicinity. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elsie Slates; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Rainsberger of Dellroy; a son, Emmett Slates of Canton, and four grandchildren.
    Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church in charge of Rev. John Longsworth.
