Mrs. Elsie (Randle) Slates, who resides with her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Rainsberger of Dellroy, will observe her 89th birthday Wednesday, April 8. Born April 8, 1875, in Mineral City, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Barbara Randle and moved with her family to Dellroy when she was six years old. Except for a few years spent in Clevland, Mrs. Slates has always resided in Dellroy.
Her husband, James Slates, died in January 1946. A sister, Mrs. Mae Rentrow, lives in Pontiac, Michigan. Mrs. Slates has two grandsons, two great-grandsons and two step-granddaughters. No celebration is planned.

Mrs. Elsie Slates, 91, of Dellroy died Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Rainsberger. She had been in ill health for the past three years. Mrs. Slates was member of Dellroy Presbyterian Church.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by one step-son, Emmett Slates of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Mae Rentfrow of Waterford, Michigan; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death. Services will be Thursday at the Sweeney Funeral Home in Dellroy with Rev. Gene Toot officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, in Carrollton.
