Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VA

Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

• Page 251.--20th May, 1771. James Hind (Hinds), of Albemarle, to his father William Hind (Hinds), £40, 295 acres, Turk's line, corner Bloodworth. Teste: James Allen, Charles ( ) Clendenen.

• Page 234 - William Hynds, 300 acres, Middle River. Adjoining Thomas Turk, Barrier, Margaret Hinds. October 15, 1773. [Abstract of Land Grant Surveys, 1761-1791, Augusta & Rockingham Counties, Virginia, by Peter Cline Kaylor, pg. 83].

• Page 302.--(undated, appears to be abt. 1785-1787) - 295 acres patented to William Hind, deceased, and devised to his son William, but not to his heirs or assigns, whereby said land became vested in William Hind, grandson and heir-at-law of William, Sr., corner Thos. Garvin's land. (Note: this contains basically the same information as the record above. The 295-acre tract of William Hinds passed to his grandson, William).

Disposition of Land from Chalkley's:

• Page 329.-- 18th May. 1773. William Hinds to John Hinds, mortgage. 195 acres whereon William now lives, devised to William by his father, William. (Note: this mortgage was most likely from William Hinds to his brother, John Hinds).
