Facts and Events
William Dugger left North Carolina for Knox Co., KY by 1802. He was listed on the Knox Co., KY Tax lists for 1802 through 1810 as a resident of Lynn Creek. William Dugger married Elizabeth Storm on 8 Apr 1809 in Carter Co., TN. (Does anyone have a source for this marriage? It isn't recorded with the other Carter County marriages.) William was listed on the 1810 census in Knox Co., KY. His cousin James Dugger was the only other one there at the time.
William was listed on the Knox Co, KY tax lists for 1811, 1815-1817 on Lynn Creek. By 1819 he was on the Whitley Co., KY tax lists. Whitley was created in 1818 from Knox. William was listed on the 1820 census in Whitley Co., KY, in fact there were two Williams listed there. The other one is apparently a duplicate, or perhaps it is a different person. Hard to say for sure:
William Dugger was on the 1820 Whitley Co., KY tax list with 1 poll, and 100 acres on Lyn Camp Creek entered by S. Dugger (probably his sister Sarah Dugger). He was on the 1825 tax list with additional land on Lyn Camp Creek, entered by Sary Dugger. He was still in Whitley for the 1830 census next to John Storm (c1810/20) probably a relative.
They moved to Shelby Co., IL in the 1830's. William made his Will there (Will Book a page 245, need copy or abstract) and died there ca 1837 and is buried at the Ellis Cemetery. |
