Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VA

  • Page 244.--19th May, 1761. William Kennedy and Martha to William Clarke, £120, 402 acres of Borden's large tract, on Moffet's Creek; cor. William Fulton (except two acres sold to William Adams). Teste: Hugh Wardlaw, Ro. Lusk. Delivered: Robert Clarke, March, 1763.
  • Page 359.--20th September, 1763. John ( ) Davis and Judith to William Clark, £65, 65 acres on Jackson's River, formerly conveyed by Thomas Hughart to John, May, 1762. Delivered to William Clark, September, 1765.

  • Page 395.--15th October, 1765. William Clark and Margret to Wm Reah, £60, 65 acres on Jackson's River, purchased by Wm. Clark from John Davis and he from Thos. Hugart, the original patentee. (Note: William Clark died within just seven months after this record).

  • Vol. 1 - JUNE 27, 1769. - (305) Wm. McCutcheon, security for Margaret Clark, admx. of her husband, since intermarried with John Smith, claims counter security. [Note: records proves that William Clark's wife Margaret McCutcheon re-married to John Smith].
