Rites Are Today For W.H. Baltz

Funeral services are being held this afternoon, Wednesday, at 1:30 pm at the Schutte Funeral Home and at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for William H. Baltz, life-long resident of this community, who passed away at Harmony, Minnesota on Sunday. The Rev. C.E. Witt will be in charge of the rites. Burial will be in Postville cemetery.

William H. Baltz, a life-long resident of the Postville community, passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Paul Greinus, near Harmony, Minnesota, on October 23.

He was born in Postville on June 6, 1884, son of Frederick Baltz and his wife Minnie Zachow. He was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on July 2, 1884, and confirmed on March 26, 1899.

He was united in marriage to Ida Gilbertson of Gillett, Wisconsin, on October 19, 1916. To this union was born one daughter, Irene, Mrs. Paul Greinus of Harmony, Minnesota.

Mr. Baltz spent his life farming around Postville and Castalia and has lived in the town of Postville for the last 10 years. He lived with his daughter since the first of the year. He has been in ill health for several years, being bed-ridden most of the time since April of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, August and Fred.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, one granddaughter, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Gentz of Luana, Mrs. Bertha Buhlman of Waterloo, Mrs. Louise Klaus of Waterloo, Mrs. Caroline Johnson of Minneapolis, and two brothers, Ernst of Santa Ana, California, and Carl of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
