Information on William Allen

- James Allen was the oldest son of William Allen, who came from Ireland and settled in Augusta, but at what date is unknown. A brother of William (also named James) was the father of Dr. James Allen who long resided and practiced medicine in the Stone Church neighborhood. It is believed that James Allen (William's son) was seven years old at the date of emigration to America. His brothers, Hugh and John, were born here. The name of his wife is not known but according to Jane Allen Trimble's biographer, she did outlive him and was supported by his eldest son James.
