Ruth is the first born child of Daniel & Hannah Webster, born in 1755 in Berkshire county MA, and moving as a child to Chatham, NY. There she married Robert Parker and they settled in Oneida County NY, his farm adjoining his brother Squire Parke. Robert Parke, a farmer, born in 1757 in Salisbury, Litchfield Co.,CT, son of Nathan & Mary (Walton)Parke. He died in Halls Corners (now Seneca)in 1813. She lived many more years,never remarrying, ending up in Benton Center, Yates Co, NY. Robert Parke was a soldier in Revolutionary War, enlisting at the beginning of the war near Boston, MA where he lived. He served the first 8 mos. (1775)in Cap.Walbridge's Co., Col.Brewer's Regt. of Mass.Militia. The rest of the war he served with New York troops under various leaders. He was in the battle of Germantonwn & Ft. Stanwix.
The Webster Genealogy states that in 1846, then of Benton, NY, aged "84 & upwards," Ruth, his widow says this of her and her husband: he was a soldier in the war of Revolution, and resided at Brimfield, near Boston, MA at the commencement of the war; that he served 8 mos in 1775, in Cap. Walbridge's Co.,Col.Brewer's Regt.of MA militia. Also that he served during most of the war, but does not remember in whose Company, but thinks, under a Cap.Morgan, a Col.Sheppard, & a Col.Mason; also among the NY troops. He was in the battle of Germantown, and Ft. Stanwix. Says that she married him Jan 1, 1781 at Chatham, Columbia Co.NY; that her maiden name was Ruth Webster and that her husband died at Seneca, NY on Sep 18, 1812 and that she was never previously nor subsequently married. Her daughter, Percis Chase, resident of Benton, NY. aged 65 yrs on Oct 24, 1846, says that she is the eldest child of Robert & Ruth and was born in 1781 in Chatham, Columbia Co.NY and when she was 6 they removed to Oneida County NY, where she remained until she was 21yrs, and for the last 27 yrs has lived at Benton, NY and further says that her parents removed to Seneca, Oneida (now Ontario) Co.,NY in 1804.
The MA. records show Parke's service in 1775, in Cap.Amos Walbridge's Company, Col.David Brewer's Regt, MA troops. But no other time in other Regts is alleged. He was out for 2 tours in 1775.
