Mr. Robert Neal Robert Neal, son of Demcy and Jennie Neal, was born January 18, 1855, and departed from this life April 25, 1927, at the ripe old age of 72 years, 3 months and ten days. He was born in Morgan County, Indiana, and lived practically all his life in the neighborhood in which he was born. On September 8, 1874, he was united in marriage with Mary E. Scales. To this union were born ten children, three of them, all sons, preceded him in death; Hana in infancy and Henry and Demcy in July, 1916. Mr. Neal is survived by his wife and four sons, Samuel, of this city, Robert, of Indianapolis, Ralph and Frank of Bedford; three daughters, Mrs. Austin McKee of this city, Mrs. Roy Howell of Bedford, Mrs. Ed long of south of Martinsville; one sister, Mrs. L. F. Baker, of Martinsville, and one brother, W.B. Neal, of Bloomington. There also remains thirty-two grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Neal had been in failing health for the last few years with dropsy and heart trouble and was as well as usual and visited his daughter, Mrs. Austin McKee, last Wednesday. On the following Sunday afternoon he was stricken with paralysis which caused his death Monday morning about nine o'clock. Mr. Neal never united with any church but attended the Baptist church whenever his health would permit. He never wavered from the faith, complained but very little of his condition and always showed his love and trust in his Redeemer. He was a kind and loving husband and father and loved his home and family. He was of a courteous disposition, always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. He was a strong believer in the efficiency of friendship and will be remembered by those who knew him best as a man who was a true friend. Thus has the sun set upon another life of 72 years sojourning upon the earth. But though he be dead, yet shall he live because of the splendid influences radiation from his useful life while among us. This poem adds beautiful sentiment: (the actual poem was missing) (April 25, 1927 hand written at the bottom) Second obituary: DEATH OF ROBERT NEAL Robert Neal, 72 years old, passed away this morning at 9:00 o'clock at his home south of town.
