DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER Sam G.. Neal, former merchant policeman, passes away after illness of three weeks

  Sam G. Neal, former Martinsville merchant policeman, died at 8:30 Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Lind, 490 South Lincoln street, after an illness of three weeks.
  He had been ill after becoming too hot while at work on the Ray Haase farm, where he had been residing for the last few years.
  Mr. Neal was born in the Jordan community July 5, 1880, the son of Robert and Mary Scales Neal.  All his life had been spent in or near Martinsville and he was engaged as a farmer most of the time, but served as merchant policeman in this city for 14 years.
  He was married in March of 1907 to Susie A. Northern, she preceding him in death by ten years.  A daughter Sylvia also preceded him in death in 1927.
  He leaves a son, William Neal, four daughters, Mrs. Martha Lind, Mrs. Mary Lewis, Mrs. Julia Weaver, and Mrs. Opal Leach, all of this city, eight grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Martha McKee and Mrs. Jane Long, of this city, and Mrs. Betty Howell, of Bedford, three brothers, Robert Neal of Indianapolis, Ralph Neal, of Monrovia, and Frank Neal, of Chicago.
  Funeral rites will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Cure & Hensley funeral home, conducted by Rev. Glenn L. Tudor.  Burial will be in the Nutter cemetery.  Friends may call at the residence of William Neal, 39 West Walnut, any time after seven o'clock this evening.
