N. Marie Long, 96, formerly of Carrollton, died February 17, 2004 following a short illness at the Carroll Golden Age Retreat. She was born December 23, 1907 in Kilgore, the daughter of the late Albert and Ameila (Arnold) Koler. A lifelong resident of Carroll County, Marie married Willis Long on May 29, 1930. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carrollton.
Survivors include son and daughters-in-law, John, (Linda) Long of Scio and Mary Long of Dellroy; five grandchildren, Willis Joe Long and Wendy Jayne Kramer, both of Carrollton, John Scott and Regina Long of Lancaster, Marc (Lindi) Long of Nelsonville; four great-grandchildren and special friend, Cicely Worthington of Carrollton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, upon his death in June 1976; sons, Richard "Chew" Long who died November 3, 2003, and Robert Long who died in infancy; brothers, Herman and Alan Kohler; and sisters, Eula Stevens, Velma Hawkins, Gotta Kline and Ruth McLaughlin. Funeral services were held February 20 at the Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton, with Rev. Gary Brose officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery.
