Moses Conklin, son of Joseph and Mary (Marsh/March) Conkling was born in August, 1821. He married Jane Wilson on 2 April 1845, in Butler County, Ohio. Moses was a farmer in Butler County. Between 1860 and 1870, the family moved to Kansas, along with other family members. Census entries for 1870 show the family living in several different homes in Elk City, Belville Township (Howard County), Kansas. Moses and Jane may have decided to end their marriage as Jane and several of the children were living on a farm and Moses was living with his daughter, Hannah and her husband. Moses died on 30 August 1873 and is buried in Cedar Vale Cemetery, in Cedar Vale (Chatauqua County), Kansas. Moses’s wife Jane is named in the 1883 probate records of Moses’s father.
