Hannah Conkling, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Marsh/March) Conkling was born on 17 December 1818 in Reily Township, Butler County, Ohio. The family record left by her brother Elijah, states that his sister Hannah married Mr. Minton. Butler County Ohio marriage records show the marriage of Hannah Conkling to Peter Minturn on 13 December 1838. Hannah died on 8 February 1876. A letter dated 10 February 1876 records her burial on that day and says that she is “the last of Uncle Cory’s family except Elijah.” Peter was born on 4 July 1811 in Roscoman County, Ireland. Family legend has it that Peter was one of many brothers, five of whom became Catholic priests. Peter emigrated to America and converted to Methodism after his marriage. He was a farmer in Hanover Township, Butler County, Ohio.
