Some sources claim that this John Davisson is a son of Daniel Davisson and Phoebe Harrison, but that appears to be a different Josiah Davidson.

Davisson, Josiah - born 10/15/1759 near Princeton, New Jersey; moved with parents to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, thence to West Augusta District of Virginia (now Harrison County); entered service 1777 at Nutters Fort, Virginia; left army in 1781; granted Pension age 73 in Harrison County, Virginia in 1832; dropped from Pension rolls in 1834 when Pension Office found he deserted army; query letter in file states soldier married 1788 to Amy Shinn, further Josiah (Davisson) of [Revoltionary War Pension Application] F-8301, above [in this source], married Lucretia Shinn; query letter in file states soldier was born in Augusta County, Virginia [Note: appears unlikely]. F-8307, R770.
