Pulaski Democrat, 23 Aug 1916: FOUND DEAD IN BED John Roser, a respected resident of this place, was found dead in bed Thursday morning, Aug 17, 1916. Coroner Dr. L. F. Hollis of Sandy Creek pronounced heart failure the cause of death. Mr. Roser was 64 years of age and had been working on the state road in Otsego county for some time. Six weeks ago he returned to his home where he thought he would remain this summer. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Asa and Otto of this place and George of Pine Meadows; and four daughters, Mrs. Harvey Spink, Mrs. Harry Bush of Ricard, Mrs. Frank King of Altmar and Mrs. R. J. Staring of Carterville. The funeral was held in the M. E. church at Ricard, Saturday ..., Rev. A. J. Green of Williamstown officiating. Interment at Williamstown. The choir rendered three selections with Mrs. E. J. Greenfield of Altmar presiding at the organ. Relatives from out of town present were Mrs. Carrie Loucks and son, Willis of Rome, Ed. Loucks and family of Richland, Alonzo Looker of Mexico, Mrs. R. J. Staring and children of Carterville and Frank King and family of Altmar. James King, Mrs. Gary West and Mrs. Byron Warner were among those from Altmar who attended the funeral of John Roser. Mrs. John Roser and family desire through the columns of the Democrat to extend their thanks to all who aided them after the death of husband and father.
